BTS bus stop and goblin kdrama scene at Jumunjin Beach

BTS Bus Stop

BTS and Kdrama lovers know this stretch of beach. The BTS bus stop is located here on this beautiful stretch of beach. Which ARMY doesn't know it?

There is also a wonderful scene in one of the most famous and successful Kdramas

But let's start from the beginning.

You can easily get to this beautiful beach from Seoul by train and the last part by bus. I've raved about public transport in South Korea several times in my previous blogs.

It's really easy to book in advance and everything works very punctually and reliably.

We took the train from Seoul to Gangneung in the morning. The train journey takes around 2 hours and is incredibly comfortable, as every ticket automatically includes a seat reservation.

When you arrive at Gangneung station, a beautiful sculpture awaits you.

Official description of the sculpture:

The "Gangneung Embracing the Sun" is a symbolic interpretation of the beautiful landscape of the East Sea, which is known for its natural calm and serenity. The ascending shape that wraps around the sphere represents the surging waves and foam of the Gangneung Sea in a harmonious, dazzling combination of white and blue. The sphere represents the sun rising over the sea, reflecting both the viewer's images and those of other parts of the sculpture on its polished, mirror-like surface. The mountainous shape surrounding the sphere alludes to the Taebeak Mountains that surround Gangneung. Gangneung is a city imbued with the powerful beauty of nature.

Gangneung was one of four venues for the 2018 Winter Olympics.

From here we took the bus for about 45 minutes to Jumunjin Beach.

Jumunjin Beach

You come to a really beautiful stretch of beach. It was fantastic, warm summer weather and we hardly saw any people. It's certainly much busier here during vacation times or in the high season. We enjoyed the quiet, relaxed atmosphere away from the bustling metropolis of Seoul.

I think the pictures speak for themselves, it was simply beautiful.

And then we discovered a swing, just like that in the middle of the beach.

You have to know that Koreans love selfies. There are photo spots everywhere, like here, that invite you to take photos and selfies.

If you walk a few meters further along this beautiful beach, you will come to this world-famous bus stop. This bus stop is the album cover of “Spring Days” by BTS and of course every Kpop fan knows it.

As there were hardly any people here, we naturally had the opportunity to take countless photos.

A little dream come true here. Sitting at the same BTS bus stop as BTS, wow

Our next destination was a stretch of beach known for one of the most successful series. “Goblin” or in the original title “Dokkaebi” is the story of a former human who becomes Dokkaebi, an immortal demon and guardian of souls. He is cursed to remain immortal and alone for hundreds of years. Ji Eun Tak, a girl who can see ghosts, accidentally summons him...

My Dokkaebi wasn't there, I seem to have missed him... ;)

This day trip from Seoul is definitely worth it. Even non-kpop fans or kdrama lovers will get their money's worth here.
